Fillings & Sealants

Fillings and sealants are common dental procedures aimed at preserving the health and integrity of teeth. Fillings are typically used to repair cavities caused by decay or damage to the tooth structure. During the procedure, the dentist removes the decayed portion of the tooth and fills the space with a durable material such as composite resin, amalgam, or porcelain. This restores the tooth’s function and prevents further decay. Sealants, on the other hand, are thin, protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (molars and premolars) to prevent decay. Sealants act as a barrier, preventing food particles and bacteria from accumulating in the deep grooves and pits of the teeth, which are difficult to clean with regular brushing. Both fillings and sealants are effective preventive measures that help maintain oral health and reduce the risk of dental problems in the future. Regular dental check-ups and good oral hygiene practices are essential for ensuring the longevity and effectiveness of fillings and sealants.
